I've been their stepmom for 6 years. They are now SD15, SS12. Their Dad & I have "typical" dad visitation schedule of 1 night per week & every other weekend. During the summer we do 1 week on, 1 week off. I dread the week long summer visitations. It's just so much more work for me & I'm a little more on edge during those weeks & truthfully on edge the weekends they're here during the school year too. It's weird & I'm not sure why... They start school next week, so last week was our last week of summer with them. I was thrilled, lol i know that sounds awful. But, let me just say that there is nothing better than the Monday after their weekend with us & they go back to their moms house & I get to reclaim mine! Just my personal stepmom truth, I love them, I really do & I'm a fantastic stepmom but I'm so glad when it gets to be just us. It's almost kinda like I feel like a "host" when they're here, like I need to always be on, do all the things, keep the house picked up, family dinners every night, keep on top of their laundry, etc... its just a lot of work & I'm so glad when it's over & life is simpler with just us & our 4 year old.
