Tips to handle large coalition wars

So it's all in the title. My game ended with 2 large federations dominated by a large empire each (me for one of them). We're about the same size and I can reliably smash their doomstacks. However they have quite literally 50 fleets going around and taking system so a white peace would be catastrophic and my allies (subsidiaries) are mostly pathetic.

Now I've already won the game, defeated the unbidden, the nanite hordes from the L-cluster, the FE next door to me but after 40 years of whack-a-mole wars my economy is starting to collapse yet I cannot retake space faster then my allies lose it even with 11 175k fleets roaming around and killing every system they enter.

Any tricks or is this just basically it, fortify my own stuff, peace out and delete the save in disgust.
