Just want to complain.

Casual player here.

I've been able to win captain level difficulty by late game recently.

Just had a new run where I was aiming to more or less be the technological overlord of as many prospectoria as I could manage to find.

Before 2300, I was researching almost 2k with 2 vessels feeding me resources. Then suddenly a custom devouring swarm rips a straight line through a top 6 empire, wipes them out, punches a hole through like 15 systems of my vassal, hits my territory and wipes out my fleet before I could properly defend.

This game was an awesome start. I had easily a dozen 20 habitable worlds, several smaller ones, and the First League precursor.

I'll try again but I doubt I'll ever get this lucky again.
