Does anyone play on normal speed while playing multiplayer?

Last time I tried playing a game online the other person cranked the speed up to max and I was overwhelmed by it, I am used to normal speed (which feels faster than when I first played), and fastest feels like I can’t do anything because everything is happening all at once.
