Using the DS4 audio jack with steam link?

I have my DS4 (CUH_ZCT1U) plugged into the steam link via a USB cable. I thought this would allow the sound to be played through headphones if I then plugged them into the audio jack but I'm not hearing anything. Does it not work with this model controller?
