I previously tried playing Tribes: Ascend in wine and it never worked at all. I am able to install the game under SteamPlay and it actually starts up! The main menu works and the rendered characters in the menu look great. But the framerate and audio are at about one frame every two seconds. Are there any tweaks to wine/proton/steamplay I can make to get this working?
I am on Ubuntu 18.04, my linux kernel is 4.15.0-33-generic and I'm using the nvidia-340
drivers.
$ ubuntu-drivers devices
== /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/0000:01:00.0 ==
modalias : pci:v000010DEd00000605sv00003842sd0000C981bc03sc00i00
vendor : NVIDIA Corporation
model : G92 [GeForce 9800 GT]
driver : nvidia-340 - third-party free recommended <- installed
driver : nvidia-304 - third-party free
driver : xserver-xorg-video-nouveau - distro free builtin
Let me know if there are any tweaks I can make to experiment with, or if I just have to wait for a new steamplay patch.
