Can I say that the Steam Deck is a truely an evolution of the Nintendo Switch! Not only has Valve managed to cram the PC into a handheld, they have managed to at the two touch pads which can be programmed to emulate pretty much any type of interface. Remember when Steve Jobs did his keynote on the original iPhone and he was talking about the issue with smartphones back then is that they all had limited interfaces? Well with the small trackpads located under the joysticks, it allows for programmable interfaces to allow users to play any type of PC game.
I have successfully been able to play RTS games, and grand strategy games, as well as third person action adventure games and 2D platformers. And the best part is the Deck is super ergonomic. It's so much more comfortable to hold and play than the Switch.
Not only that, since it is a full Linux OS which has been able to translate Microsoft's DirectX Library (MS library for PC gaming) almost any PC game I have thrown at it can be played. Games can be modded in the same way as Windows, since you can go into Desktop mode, and it really is a game changer in the market. I have yet to try running games from the SD card slot, but from my understanding having games on there does not degrade performance.
I give the Steam Deck my full endorsement as an man who both loves video games and IT. Next step is to get Emulation Station up and running, and then programming the wonderfull controls to be like the N64.
