And I have no regrets. I love my device. It’s actually changed my life routine by being able to game whenever, wherever, and enables me to not feel like I have to be at home in front of my PC to get the most out of my gaming experience. The deck is incredible.
However, I do indeed fit into that small niche of people who purchased my 256GB LCD version just outside of the return window for the new 512GB OLED one…and it sucks.
This was a major purchase for me that I had been saving up for a while. My financial situation is currently all over the place and I was extremely lucky to land enough extra money from my last gig that I decided to pull the trigger. I sadly missed the sale in September I see people talking about as I was intensely busy with work then. Probably could have saved myself some of the heartache I feel now if I had purchased at a discount but alas.
I did research beforehand and most were saying they thought a new version of the deck would come out in early 2024 yet I felt quite confident in my decision as there were no definitive sources stating that there would 100% actually be a new version next year at all, everything was just theory. And then a month after my $520 purchase before taxes, a new, better version with double the storage of my product comes out priced at only $549. Oh and my version? Yeah priced now at $399.
Again, I love my deck and I do not regret the purchase. But knowing I could have waited a month and gotten what I have now for much cheaper or gotten a better version for $30 more makes me feel just plain stupid.
