What?
This started as a simple updater script for personal use, but then I realised that it could be useful for others given how time consuming it was to get to this point, so I expanded on it. This script downloads the generic Linux release of Teamviewer Quick Support, extracts it, cleans up the download, and creates App Launcher shortcuts for Teamviewer QS and the Updater script if they don't exist. It's an updater because Teamviewer releases have a limit to backwards compatibility between the connecting clients, so this makes it easy to update on the Steamdeck.
Why?
Everything I've been able to find on remote desktop access to a Steamdeck has one of two issues:
- Requires turning off read-only on the root filesystem of the Steamdeck.
- Relies on the Steam client running, which is problematic when you're trying to sort out 3rd party launcher libraries and have to keep closing steam for Steam ROM Manager.
I looked at dozens of remote desktop applications before eventually finding Teamviewer QS, and thought I'd share this to make things easier on others.
