NReal Air, Steam Deck, and GoFanco together: Intermittent Problems

Post Body

Hello r/SteamDeck,

I'm using a pair of Nreal Air glasses (calling them that because that's what they were called when I bought them) with a GoFanco Adapter, a USB-C extension cord, and a Steam Deck on its dock.

I absolutely love this combo as it lets me game while laying on my bed and the Deck continues to charge for indefinite use.

However, there has been a problem as of late. Sometimes the glasses will refuse to work with the GoFanco adapter, though they work every time when plugged in to the Steam Deck directly. The screen on the Deck itself will go blank for about half a minute, after which it either translates to the glasses or just goes back to the Deck's screen. Once it makes the connection, it doesn't stop working until either the Deck goes into sleep mode or when I suspend it by tapping the power button.

Lately it has been getting harder and harder to get it to cooperate. Troubleshooting steps I've tried:

  1. Try it without the extension cord. No dice, it does the same thing.
  2. Hard rebooting several times. Used to work, it doesn't anymore.
  3. Disconnecting and reconnecting the GoFanco Adapter. Zilch.
  4. Waiting for the black screen to go off and on a few times to see if it finally manages to make the connection. Used to work, but no longer.

So yeah I'm not sure what to do at this point. I really love this setup, it is absolutely kino primo, but it really sucks when I have to try to teach this thing over and over again to do something it had consistently done in the past.
