[REQUEST] Ability to do other things while verifying game cache

Excuse me if I'm ignorant and there's some technical explanation to why this is not possible.
Every time I need to verify game cache to troubleshoot something (or something similar to that), I forget that I'm unable to use anything else that is on Steam. I can't even chat with my friends for a period of time, and it's really annoying.

If there's a technical reason as to why this isn't possible, then feel free to tell me. Honestly, I can't think of any good reason of why I can't reply to my friends or do absolutely anything else while verifying a game.
