When we see young Miranda sitting down for her job interview at the shipping company, he asks "what is your strongest quality"
"i remember everything" is one she lists. this is another major theme of the show, memory and how it works and doesn't, how it tricks us. her answer also references the idealism of being young and having broader views of what is possible, for ourselves and also the world. she goes from confidently remembering everything, to remembering damage.
later in the episode when arthur is talking in spanish on the phone to his father about his and miranda's marriage, he describes it as one of convenience, being for her benefit so the paparazzi will be less cruel to her. she overhears this, and he asks her if she speaks spanish to which she answers "not so great", which was a lie. when she's packing her things to leave him, she says "we both knew this was temporary", which i believe is a reference to that conversation she overheard, and to which arthur responds "i didn't", effectively lying to her.
several episodes later, i think in 8, tyler tells kirsten the spanish phone conversation anecdote and then says something in spanish, to which kirsten says "i don't speak spanish" and tyler says "neither do i".
