Imperial Broadcasting Corporation Channel 1

ā€Accurate and live Galactic News from a source you can trust.ā€

In a sleek grey and black room of Imperial design, technicians activated the droid holo cameras and ran through the last tests before the broadcast. The blue glow of the lights contrasted with the steady white count down on the wall adjacent to the news desk as the Anchor read through the last of his notes. An aide rushed up and made some last-minute adjustments to his hair as the numeral hit the 10-second mark. All that was left was the steady hum of electronics as it neared zero.

The Principateā€™s sigil flew across the screen as viewers connected on Taris and Botajef for the main program. Triumphant and loud Imperial music played as the screen switched to the anchor. A man in his mid-thirties with well kept and tidy brown hair, dressed in a Civilian uniform with the markings of his department.

ā€œGoodnight, good morning, good evening and good afternoon! Iā€™d just like to start by welcoming all our viewers from the Principate and those tuning in from across the galaxy for the IBC galactic service. It is 18:00 Taris Standard Time, now shall we begin?ā€

ā€œEarlier this week Princep Murith Severan made a tour to the manufacturing complex on Bandomeer, congratulating the workers on exceeding their quotas. After handing out medals the Princep toured the high energy research labs of Sienar-Jaemus Fleet Systems, awarding the highest civilian honour to a leading scientist.ā€

ā€œIn other news, the Principate has experienced record economic growth following the recent announcement from the Princep that there will be a deepening and intensification of reforms. The Prime Minister earlier outlined the future prosperity of our nation when he visited some frontier worlds for the flag-raising ceremony following their accession.ā€

ā€œOn the topic of security, security forces in the Rimward sectors have reported record numbers of Pirate interceptions. Our brave men and women in uniform have scored record wins, destroying dozens of Pirate ships and capturing millions of credits worth of spice and stolen goods. The action we are now reporting may well bring the war on Piracy and Spice within measurable distance of its end. However, the government continues to warn all citizens to report undisclosed and unauthorized force users to the Security Bureau, earlier this month force users with potential ties to the Sith Union and other illicit force organizations carried out attacks killing dozens of innocents.

ā€œThe question Iā€™d like to ask viewers, while our government does deny publicly that these attacks have anything to do with the Jedi, do we really believe that? Now I love the Jedi as much as the next guy but you do wonder what they might have to gain. I'm just blue-sky thinking here, but if I was spending billions of credits on force training and such equipment every year Iā€™d want a return on my investment. It might sound crazy folks but maybe those Sith Unionists are just there to justify the insane stipends the Jedi demand from the galaxy. Just think about it, a lot of money to be made in that force business.ā€

ā€œIn foreign news, the New Galactic Republic suffers a wave of terrorist attacks, when asked for comment State authorities on Taris advised citizens to be careful when travelling abroad. While here in the Principate we may have the occasional Pirate raid, it is nothing compared to the chaos experienced by those outside our borders. According to some undisclosed sources in Mandalorian and Republic space, Vibroknife crime has soared to record highs, with hundreds being killed in a recent wave of violence on Nar Shaddaa. Sometimes you gotta think we really are lucky to live in Imperial space.ā€

The News Anchor proceeded to begin speaking about domestic entertainment news and other very dull topics such as Vibro Death Sticks at our Nationā€™s schools. Eventually, the program ended and viewers on Taris go on with their evenings. Just another day in Paradise.
