36m, 5’10”, 245lb (111.1 kg) that’s been strength training on-off for 5 years or so, and I recently got back in the gym after a year long hiatus.
After meandering for a month or so I decided to just start over with a Starting Strength NLP. To that end, I took a couple of weeks off and did day one of Phase 1 NLP yesterday.
Im wondering if these numbers seem reasonable or if I should have gone lighter. My previous 1RM for S/B/DL was 185kg/136kg/215kg, and I got those numbers right before my year-long hiatus.
My 5RM before I started the NLP (before I took two weeks off) were 140kg/90kg/150kg.
My numbers are mostly in kg because 90% of the equipment at my gym is in kg, and I’m using a safety squat bar because I don’t currently have the shoulder mobility to do a low bar squat (working on that with the Horn stretches). However, the Rogue only lists the weight for their safety bar as 70 lb (70/2.205 = 31.746). The other movements are all in kg.
With all that in mind, do these numbers seem reasonable for my day 1?
Squat (ROGUE SSB weight provided in pounds, and I converted when I started adding plates because those were in kilos):
70lb x 5, 42kg x 5, 52kg x 5, 62kg x 5, 72kg x 5 — bar slowed down, 72kg x 5, 72kg x 5,
Press (all in kg):
20 x 5, 25 x 5, 30 x 5, 32.5 x 5, 35 x 5 — bar slowed down, 35 x 5, 35 x 5,
Deadlift (all in kg):
50 x 5, 60 x 5, 70 x 5, 80 x 5, 90 x 5, 100 x 5, 110 x 5 — bar slowed down, 110 x 5, 110 x 5,
I realized after the fact that I didn’t need to do the 2 extra sets after the bar slowed down. The main one I’m unsure of is Deadlift, because after looking at my videos the bar kind of slowed down at 100kg, but maybe that was just fatigue?
