Hi all!
I just setup Starlink, I live in the mountains so fair ish number of obstructions. First time I put it up it was amazing, even though the app said there was obstructions it worked very well (no dropping was noticed on zoom, fast YouTube load etc. Basically SUPER fast for us mountain folk standards 😂). That was for about 2 days. Then I had to move it to work on my roof, now it’s horrible even though it’s in the same spot as before. Calls drop all the time, goes offline while working during drops and searches and disconnects constantly. That’s an issue on its own but my question here is -
I just got an email saying I hit 40gb of priority. I did a quick search and I know it varies but google says that should be ~4500 hours surfing websites to hit this. I work from home. Apps are google suite, accounting software and excel online, nothing tremendous (I think?) and do about 2 hrs of zoom calls a day. I have had it installed for less than 2 weeks. Does it make sense that I really already hit 40gb with this type of usage in 2 weeks? Does that fact that it’s always searching now play any part in this usage somehow?
