It's of course not the best show objectively, writing and acting wise shows like Breaking Bad are better. I can't deny that.
But it's my favourite and I have the most fun watching it. I love the characters, the SG-1 team is so likable (rare for me to like all the main characters in a show tbh) and I love their bond.
The worldbuilding is great, you really see the progression throughout the show and despite the procedural style a lot of things matter.
I like the balance between serialized storytelling and case of the week type of stories. These days shows are too serialized at times imho, they feel dragged out that way. With SG-1 you can enjoy most episodes on their own and that makes it more satisfying. The writers don't bait you with constant cliffhangers and soapy drama.
Depends on the day but top 5 would be SG-1, Lost, Avatar the last airbender, SG-A, and Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.
