I'm rewatching SG1, I've only watched it once before (I think) several years ago.
Now, I understand the point of glowing eyes when subjugating a primitive society, in order to further convince them that they're a god. OK, no problem with that.
All the other scenarios they do it though, it seems really lame. I swear there's episodes where they've done it on their own, with no-one around, right now I'm watching Ex Deus Machina and the Baal clone (if memory serves he's a clone, could be wrong!) just did it in a small meeting room with two other people.
The main reason I think it's dumb is, can you imagine a human equivelant in these scenarios? Thumbs up? Devil horns? I suppose it shouldn't be surprising that individual narcissistic megalomaniacs with a god complex have poor taste, it just makes me wonder what the writers were thinking when they do it.
It makes me want to facepalm...is that the desired reaction? I guess the main point is to tell us, the viewer, that they're Goa'uld, but besides that, it just looks silly.
I admit, I'm overthinking this! 😂
