I was born in 1986 and was raised in the golden age of sci-fi TV. I love sci-fi, so how did I go my whole life and never see an episode of Sg1 until the 2020 pandemic lockdown? We were so spoiled with great sci-fi shows in the 90s. Just to name a few Star Trek TNG, Sliders, X-files, quantum leap, Outer Limits, First Wave, and so many more. So I had a high standard and many options. I also had the wrong idea what sg1 was all about. I had watched the Stargate movie and I wasnât a big fan, and so I had an aversion to SG1. Also I thought âit must be a cheesy low budgetâ tv show trying to cash in on the films name. There were a lot of tv shows that tried doing that back in the 90s. They would be based on movies and they usually didnât last and were awful. So finally in 2020 during lockdown I was looking for a tv show to get into. I had just did a rewatch of first wave and Battlestar Galactica. I had seen and article online about SG1 being the best sci-fi tv series of all time. I found that hard to believe. However I wanted to give it a shot. the whole series was on Hulu or Netflix at the time and I watched âchildren of the Godsâ and was impressed. As the show progressed I realized it was special and as a child I had missed out on a culturally significant tv series. I was like âdamn I would have been a nerd for this as a kid!â. I then immediately thought âhow lucky am I that all this is new to me and none of it has been spoiled so I get to experience it now and itâs all available to stream!â. I didnât have to wait months or years for the he story to continue I had full control! Lol Itâs just an absolute masterpiece with storytelling and world building that a sci-fi fan drools for. I felt so lucky to have found it during lockdown, it really was a positive when things were very stale. I even got my mom hooked on the show! I have watched all 10 seasons and the movies 3 Times through! I have watched Atlantis and Universe twice. I now agree whole Heartedly that SG-1 is the greatest science fiction television series of all time.
