drifter (90% nova galactic, 10% derretech/avontech): my concept was to create a stand alone ship(2x1 control station, 1x1 armory, reactor, grav drive, main engines, main fuel cell, main cargo hold, shield and weapons) and two modules that could be jettisoned singularly or both at once in case of catastrophic failure due to battle or environmental conditions. the top residential module consists of the 2x1 captain's quarters, 2x1 all-in-one berth, 2x1 living quarters, and observation deck. the bottom engineering module consists of the 2x1 infirmary and 2x1 workshop. both modules have an auxiliary fuel cell, cargo hold, engines and weapons.
tachi: just a dropship doing dropship things. VTOL engines was a must.
