I first played this game and fell out of it after getting my first few powers. The games mechanics just didn't do it for me and I became bored. But I decided to come back to this game and try again after learning more about ship to ship combat, companions, crafting, etc.

My character was a UC native Vanguard who fancied himself a blonde cougar from time to time. Eventually he met Sarah and quickly fell in love with her. Together, they traveled to and from every side of the settled systems and performing all sorts of actions in the name of constellation. They solved the terror morph crisis, brought old veterans of the colony wars to justice, samples aurora in the astral lounge, and put ten soldiers legacies to rest by rescuing a little girl named Sona.

There; in front of the waterfall of New Atlantis Sarah told this Dusty that she loved him, not once, but twice. I was gobsmacked to see this in a game I once thought so shallow. Over the course of in-game months these two characters were making a story unique to them. But eventually it would have to come to an end. When pressed between the choice of staying and defending the Lodge from the impending doom of the Hunter or attempting to rescue the members on the Eye, I chose to defend the artifacts to protect everything Sarah and my character had worked together for. Sarah was gone to soon. And my focus shifted to The Hunter.

That meeting with him and the Emissary absolutely shocked me. So soon after the love of his life had been murdered and being incapable of saving her. Another version of Sarah reveals her face to the man and explains what Unity is. So he strives to find it, not for some intense power or wealth to acquire, but to find the same version of Sarah again. To love someone so much again. However he will never find Sarah as she was for him in his own world.

Tldr, romancing Sarah Morgan and watching her die has permanently impacted every single character I will be making in this game from now on.
