Apologies for the poor phone photo instead of a screenshot, originally just snapped it real quick to send to a couple friends who asked what I've been up to during the long weekend. Needless to say, I think I've been having some fun, perhaps. I've laughed, I've teared up, I've rolled my eyes, and I've taken Lord Todd's name in vain (it just works!)
One of my favorite and most memorable moments so far would be getting hailed by a random ship, who said his daughter wanted to talk to me. So I obliged, and I swear, it was so sweet! An adorable little girls voice piped up on the broadcast, offering to sell me some lemonade for 5 credits. Needless to say, I sent her 500 and her reaction was worth every penny.
I've been loving going around and exploring. Primarily just doing POIs and gathering survey data as I pop from system to system, picking up mission board and random quests as they pop up. Still haven't been to Cydonia, and have Sarah constantly chirping about needing to make it quick when I loot dead bodies I haven't gotten into any base building yet, both because haven't felt the need to, and I had just put another 40 hours into fallout 4 earlier this year and I'm tapped on base design ATM. Combat has been pretty slick, though it started feeling too easy with a few lovely drops I got (picked up the shotgun from UC Surplus, as well as found a lovely Kodama and a scoped Beowulf, to name a few of my pain delivery systems) and bumped it up to very hard, which has been a nice chance of pace.
My only major complaint so far is that I've run into a few POIs now that are repeating, such as the abandoned lab. Did that exact same layout three times today. Outside of that, I just wish I had a faster way to travel between POIs 1km away from each other, but these are relatively minor issues for me.
Honestly, at least so far, this game is giving me the same magical experiences I had when playing oblivion and Skyrim for the first time, the latter of which I've probably clocked over 3,000 in over the past 12 years.
I'd rate Starfield a solid 9/10 at the time of this post.
