Am i coming into this game with the right expectations?

I see a LOT of hate for this game but an equal amount of love and im thinking the hate comes from people's expectations, i'm coming into this game with the expectations that it'll be a classic bethesda rpg like fallout 4 but in space, and have the freedom to live as whoever i want among the stars. i am NOT expecting a space sim with seemless exploration, atmospheric flight or any star citizen elements.

in a way i'm kind of expecting star bound but 3D

will i be coming into this game with the right expectations?
