Am I wrong, or was that a traditional Katana in the gameplay trailer?

Around the end of it you see some melee gameplay and it looked like the character was full on using a Katana. Odd choice for a scifi game.
I was looking forward to some sci fi esque melee weapons so hopefully their is a diverse bunch.
