Vita and Ps4?

Somehow I just barely found out about STV releasing on the Vita. I read that if you buy the ps4 version you can also download the vita version. Well i bought the physical ps4 version and there is no code or anything like that, possibly its an older copy. Is there anyway to accomplish this goal or does it only apply to the digital version purchased on the ps store? Any help is appreciated.
