I'm a hardcore min/max nerd who's obsessed with opening strategies in games.
One of my goals in SDV is to have Quality Sprinklers unlocked and have the materials to build them by the first day of the first Summer.
In order to achieve this, you'll need the following:
- Level 6 Farming
- Iron and Gold Bars; Refined Quartz
Seems straightforward enough. Let's break down the method in which we reach these goals.
Level 6 Farming
In order to unlock level 6 Farming, you'll need to harvest 413 total crops (source).
You start the game with 15 parsnip seeds. You can purchase an additional 25 with the starting 500g for a total of 40 parsnip seeds. Our total number of harvests to reach level 6 Farming is now 413 - 40 = 373.
These will become harvestable by the 5th of Spring. From there, you have a total of 23 days left to harvest as many crops as possible. The two crops that will yield the most harvests on an individual basis are parsnips or green beans -- each allowing 5 harvests before the end of Spring. Green beans are superior IMO because of a) high profit and b) less maintenance (you only need to plant it once). You CAN wait for Fertilizer on day 6 and still get the same number of total harvests.
Since we now know that we can get a total of 5 green bean harvests per plant before the end of Spring, we take the total remaining harvests for level 6 Farming (373) and divide by 5: 373 / 5 = 74.6 ~= 75 green bean plants (or 75 x 5 parsnip plants since you need to re-plant parsnip after you harvest).
In order to purchase the seeds, you'll need 75 x 60g = 4500g. Parsnips sell at 35g before quality modifiers so your initial batch of 40 parsnips will yield a minimum of 1400g assuming crows don't wreck your shit. That leaves a difference of 4500g - 1400g = 3100g to farm up before day 6. Fishing is likely the way to go.
Summary: To reach level 6 Farming by the end of Spring, you need to plant 40 parsnips on day 1 and 75 green bean plants (or 75 parsnips with continuous re-planting) on day 6 when Fertilizer is unlocked. You'll need a total of 4500g by day 6 in order to purchase 75 green bean seeds.
Materials (Iron, Gold, Refined Quartz)
This one is straight forward: You'll begin to see gold at level 80 (I think) with gold becoming more common at 100 . You'll obtain iron and quartz as you progress to 80 .
However, with 75 plants on your farm, you're looking at an Energy expenditure of 75 x 2 = 150 per day (before efficiency bonuses). This makes progressing in the mines a little more challenging due to the Energy constraints but these can be circumvented by food.
You also have the option of buying gold ore from Clint. It costs 400g per ore or 2000g per bar.
Summary: Farm mines or buy ore from Clint. Iron and quartz will come naturally as you search for gold.
So that's my plan but I don't know if it'll actually work out (planning where to plant 75 trellis plants is actually pretty hard... any tips?).
Has anyone successfully unlocked Quality Sprinkler by Summer day 1? Any tips/inputs?
