Did Bail know Anakin/Vader was alive? And did he know Vader = Anakin?

I would assume after the fights in ROTS when he, Kenobi and Yoda discussed everything they would have told him what happened to Anakin. Of course presuming he died on Mustafar.

But the question is: Is Vader known throughout the galaxy? Does he have something to do with politics and the senate? Or is this only Sidious department?

Leia sure knew Vader in ANH. And that triggers the question: If Bail knew, why didn’t he tell Obi Wan or Ahsoka?
