Adding in some space just so my first sentence doesnāt show up while scrollingā¦
Torbinā¦itās Torbin.
In the opening of the first episode, Indara asks Mae āwho trained you?ā And if you listen to the inflection, thereās some shock and surprise behind her inquiry. Knowing that Torbin was her Padawan might explain why her inflection was what it was.
In episode 2, we learn Torbin has taken the Barash Vow and sits alone in seclusion within his quarters in an ancillary temple on a remote world. These circumstances would allow him to slip in an out of the temple (through the skylight as Mae didā¦) without anyone noticing heās gone.
He was not only unsurprised to see Mae (who was believed dead), he acquiesced to her death by suicide-as justice offer without any hesitation or rebuttal. He drank the poison and asked for her forgiveness.
His lack of surprise at seeing Mae not only implies the Jedi did something horribleā¦but that he saw something that neither Indara nor Sol saw, leading him to know that Mae survivedā¦but why would he keep it secret from the Order? Especially if he held guilt over what transpired that night?
BUTā¦if heāa actually Maeās hidden master, his response to her is brilliant, as it serves as a confession, solidifying her belief that the Jedi were responsible for what went down on Brendok, strengthening her resolve to continue on in her mission. And now, having faked his own death, allows him to continue his without having to live a double life.
Plot twist: the Sith Lord was actually the janitor all along.
