Did the nightsister used their connection with the force for something else that the preservation of their kind and their culture?

I don't know much about the lore stat wars beyond the movies, series and animated content, so I wonder if the nigthsisters ever use their magicks to pursue power or rule over the galaxy.
I'm curious since they are often associated with the dark side and it's a common trend in star wars that dark side users always succumb to their greed, but in the portrayal of the nightsisters in clone wars, rebels and now ahsoka, they seem as an isolationist cult only interest in preserving their way of life.
