The ISD was designed as a frontline battleship for heavy conflict with similarly designed vessels, think like the American Iowa or German Bismarck classes of battleships. Not technically flawed vessels but they do not fit the profile of war going forward. Same story with the ISD lots of turbolasers but with heavily limited anti fighter weapons and struggled to deal with the hit and run tactics of the rebellion. This ship was purely designed with intimidation and maximum capital ship firepower in mind.

Yes the ISD had some fighters but the rebellion ships were just so much better in almost every way it wasn’t a fair fight. The Empire couldn’t even fully stock the ISD with fighters usually.

Gideon could work well but the problem with mando is he’s not aligned with the new republic or rebellion. If they wanted to do mandolorian content they should do Moff Gideon and Cara

I mean it could work out and it’s certainly possible. But we’ve seen those two work for the empire in the past on several occasions. We’ve only seen mando work for the empire (even if he did go back and kill them all). But what we have seen is Cara being a rebel shock trooper. If it was between the two, a confirmed rebel or a bounty hunter they’d probably go with the rebel.
