Can someone please explain the rationale for Co-op Mode?

Post Body

Why is Co-Op Mode a thing? I mean, we have always had arcade mode as a method to fight easier, predictable AI and consistently win. Why is this a multiplayer mode when we’re not playing against other players? We have our co-op teammates, yes, but that’s not what “multiplayer” is, or should be, about. Am I right? Did the community ask for this mode? What hole in the game experience does it fill? Is it just a way for weaker players to pad their stats, finally get to play as a hero, complete achievements? Again, arcade mode is there. I quit playing co-op but I already feel dishonest, like I cheated my way to the achievements I earned in this mode. I mean, I am not a dominating player in multiplayer, except in Starfighter Assault, and I applauded the addition of Capital Supremacy — it gave me better opportunities for heroes, lots of kills, etc. — but I was still earning it all by taking down intelligent, competitive human players. With co-op it’s a watered-down game. There, I said it. I feel better now.
