TIL, not only can you destroy incoming Y-Wings, there is an achievement for it!

I'm an idiot so I bitched that it couldn't be done before researching it. Imperials....do your duty and destroy the Y-Wings at all costs, it makes a huge difference and they can be taken out with ion missiles, sniper shots, smart rockets, and of course Tie Fighters.
This insight alone has changed my preference from avoiding starfighters, to actively going for them again.
