Classic Collection promises the return of FREE DLC CONTENT that you got if you played the game online on the Original Xbox. But when Microsoft retired the OG Xbox Live and Pandemic went out of business, that content was LOST FOREVER.
Why? Because it was only available digitally. This was my wakeup call that digital-only content has a finite lifespan and that's been born out by roughly 18 years of the game industry backsliding into games-as-a-service models including the notorious Darth Vader lootbox debacle which I'm sure you're all familiar with.
I would LOVE to play Kit Fisto on Rhen Var Harbor again, those are memories that were permanently lost to the Original Xbox Live era, but I'm not gonna fuckin' bother if the plan is the circlejerk me a second time. I want this shit ON DISC, so I can OWN IT, PERMANENTLY.
For the sake of game preservation and the legacy of BF2, Classic Collection needs a physical release with all singleplayer and couch co-op content playable entirely offline.
