After rewatching the majority of Stargate SG-1 on Netflix, I have come to the conclusion that Finn was robbed the story Teal'c got throughout the series.
For those unaware here are some highlights...
Teal'c was a Jaffa (a slave warrior since early childhood) in the service of Apophis, this is the Stargate equivalent of Stormtroopers and the empire. While initially outwardly loyal, Teal'c secretly harbored doubts about his master, and when given the opportunity to break away he finally does.
Teal'c is branded a trator for his actions and is shunned by his people, but does not waiver in his belief that they would all be better off free.
Through the seasons Teal'c slowly but surely breaks through with other Jaffa and an underground resistance is built up within the evil empire - this culminates in a revolution, that frees his people and resolves with him being a respected leader and general among the newly freed people.
I feel like there was a lot of potential with Finn, and unless Disney is about to pull out a whole Finn movie or TV series from somewhere I'm going to continue to be disappointed and how little was ultimately done with him.
