Its almost common sense they might try to desperately let some intel or supplies escape so the empire doesnt get it. But they dont shoot the pod because of "no life forms on board"
If they had shot it anyway, thered be no R2 or death star plans.
No r2 means no luke becoming a jedi.
No r2 means no princess rescue
No death star plans for rebels means death star lives
If that one fucking officer. Ruined the entire empire.
