Im not going to point the plotholes and all the irrelevant characters plots etc, that everyone has already said.
The main problem is that there isn't a vision for the whole sequel trilogy, and a basic guidelines/story for it, instead every movie is made on scratch and the director is completely free to put his own view of star wars and his story on it, leaving the next director with a mess and no clue on how to continue the story. It kind of remind me of this, those excercises where one tells a story and then the next continues it and changes it completely.
