While this fan reimagining is cool in isolation and quite well done, it simply would not fit and be completely out of place if it were to be in the original film due to the fact that at that point in the timeline, both Vader and Obi-Wan are no longer in their prime both physically, mentally and emotionally. They are both clearly suffering from trauma and PTSD. They are also both old as shit here and neither of them would have the strength or energy to fight viciously and rage filled like that. I still prefer the original version, I'm sorry. You just can't replace it, right down to Alec's lightsaber not being fully colored in post in a couple of shots and being able to see the battery pack up Alec's sleeve. It's those imperfections and limitations of the time in which it was made that make it so charming and forever timeless .And I also prefer the Vader vs Obi-Wan re-match in the Obi-Wan show as well. I'm sorry, but I just do and one main reason for that is that it is both Ewan and Hayden back in their roles from nearly 20 years prior, so there was that connection and history there that just bled through the screen so seamlessly. Also, I get that this is a fan film, but the CG Alec Guinness face over the actor stunt double looks laughably bad. It would have been far more practical and way cheaper to just hire an old dude who looks like Alec and slap some makeup on his face for the close up shots, then have the stunt double perform the fight in the shots where you can't see his face because of the high speed action and hood. Again, good for what it is, but comes nowhere near topping the perfection of the original version which will ALWAYS be iconic and timeless forever.
