where to start what order to read?

I want to start reading the books. I really enjoyed the star wars shows clone wars rebels bad batch. I want more and the movies are so lacking. Is there a book to start with? I don't want to read the movies since I saw them so all I do replay it in my head but I need a good start. I was thinking thrawn but which one is first? Heir to the empire?
