When L'Rell has her first scene with Cornwell, they missed an opportunity to play with some values dissonance. When Cornwell said the Federation repatriates POW's, I expected L'Rell to be genuinely appalled. Like, "You monster! Why are you proud to condemn your enemies to eternal damnation! Why would you humiliate their families that way? At least we give our prisoners the chance to die honorably!"
Would have been tougher to set up L'Rell's offer to defect that way, I suppose. But that seemed like the only genuine reaction for a Klingon. Especially a devoutly religious one.
