Hello! I’m a future poodle owner who has been doing tons of research on the breed and how to spot ethical vs back yard breeding. This sub has been a HUGE help to me.
I have a question regarding poodle mixes. From my research, it seems that poodle mixes/“designer dogs” are not as ethical as people think for a variety of reasons. Yes, doodles are cute, but in terms of ethics, it’s best to go with a breeder who exclusively breeds pure bred spoos. I’m seeing a lot of breeders who claim to be ethical say they breed spoos, as well as spoo mixes, and I’ve been trying to avoid them.
Can someone please educate me on the spoo/mix issues? Why should we continuously try to buy pure bred spoos vs doodles? Are breeders who produce both truly unethical? If so, why?
By the way, I have no intentions of getting a doodle of any kind. I only want a purebred spoo. This is just for my knowledge and education.
Thanks!
