I have been working on material by taking notes all day. I then wind up compiling it to what I think is a sensible narrative, running it for myself and then...I haven’t hit an open mic. I know I need to get out there, and I have a definite date set, the location, and THE JOKE. I’m worried about time constraints. I know I will not have the luxury of an open ended set, but I know the “finished product” runs at least 15, and that’s without laughs. Being that this is my first one, and I know that in order to do it justice I am going to need some time to flesh out the concept. Do I just find somewhere that will let me run it? I’m finding myself not at all writing one liners or anything like that, but things that need a bit more time to explain. I know that many comedians have had jokes that almost seem like sermons with a punchline, and I’m not sure what to do with that. Stop being a bitch, shut the fuck up on Reddit, get to a mic and see what happens? I’m trying to go about this as professionally as possible, and I’m looking for some help.
