Staghorns and Root Rot — advice?

Post Body

I’ve rescued another staghorn from Lowe’s, and they had it in soil — and the poor thing’s roots are pretty much entirely rotten. Their roots are so fragile and fine as it is, so I’m not sure how best to go about saving it, if I can.

Have any of you treated root rot in staghorns before? Obviously it isn’t as simple as something like an aroid, which can be chopped and propped to be saved.

Side note, this staghorn is quite large. I do want to get it mounted, but I don’t have a mount large enough yet 🥲
