Sound Stutter Issue with Chromecast Ultra

Okay I have a really weird issue. Launching a game with the Chromecast ultra I get horrible sound.

Two scenarios:

Launch a game when using the supplied wall power adapter with the Chromecast. I get horrible stuttering blotchy fragmented sound, which is straight up unplayable.

Launch a game when using a micro USB cable plugged into the tv for power. I get clean decent sound with a few hicccups/ stutters every once in a while. Totally playable.

I am using the Chromecast only over wifi right now.

What is happening? Is there a solution? It seems like the chromecast loads faster when plugged into the wall adapter so I would like to use the wall adapter.
