Last year my depression came back after 7 years of relative quietness. I have a great new psychiatrist who has been mixing and changing my meds to get me to a ok place. I am on viibryd 60mg for my depression and after trying modafinal for a few months, have now have gotten a vyvanse prescription. Primary for focus but my Rx is for my binge eating (insurance would reject it otherwise) but the dopamine hit from it has changed my life and after months of staring at my screen all day and getting no work done, i feel like a rockstar at work again. I'm also on ketamine once a week, (FDA approved at a clinic)
So things are good, but not great. Without the vyvanse, my depression is managed but not gone, my PHQ-9 score has gone from 24 to 11 since i've started ketamine so i know that is working to take away the worst of my symptoms, but now I feel stuck in a limbo where im still sad most of the time, especially in the mornings, until the vyvanse kicks in,. And thats the first question i have. Any advice on helping the vyvanse hit quicker or longer? Ive been logging my intake and its almost exactly 90 minutes after taking it that i feel great. I take it in the morning at about 730. at 850 i'm still down and sad and feel like i want to call in sick to work to not have to anything all day, then 9am, bam, im good, im chatty, im social, im getting things done.
i've read a lot here about l-tyrosine helping so i'm taking that at different times, 1 hour before, 1 hour after, midday, but no affect yet. I drink a lot of coffee, which i have to just to get awake in the mornings, so it would be hard to give that up. I take l-theanine with the coffee as I read that takes off the jittery effects i may get. i eat before my vyvanse, i try eating after. I do eat at lunch to keep the crash off and that does work but although i dont crash, i do start to feel very sad as the vyvanse wears off at end of the day
so any advice on the timing of l-tyrosine? Any other supplements before during and after? Also, i do try to skip 2 days a week on the vyvanse, to keep down tolerance, i do that on sundays by choice, but also on Wednesdays as that ketamine day and the vyvanse would affect the effect of the ketamine. Any advice on what to take on those days to help replace the vyvanse so im not down all day long?
and then a final question on ketamine. I get a lovely trip for about 30 mins when i take it ( i have the FDA approved nasal spray, which i take at a clinic, monitored by drs and nurses), but then for the last 90 minutes that i have to stay there, im trying to pass the time with podcasts and radio shows. Any one know how to make the initial 30 minute trip last longer?
thanks all, love this reddit, appreciate all the great advice from every one on here
