MJ outage last Saturday
- outage started in the middle of the night
- somebody was trying to grab all prompts image pairs (this was not a beginner project)
- it took down MJ servers for a long time
- it was linked to an email account from Stability AI
- all Stability AI employees are being banned
- -- Don't do automation on MJ servers and take down the servers!!
Emad replied on Twitter, denying the allegations, or at least denying that this was authorized by the company:

Very confusing how 2 accounts would do this team also hasn't been scraping as we have been using synthetic & other data given SD3 outperforms all other models
Anyway I am a big MJ & David fan which is why I backed them at the start with the grant to pay for the beta, on e we go
If anyone did do this on team (have asked, will dig, also happy if MJ reaches out direct) its not great but obviously not a DDoS attack but unintentional.
Certainly not instructed by us/Stability AI tho, really happy with our dataset & the augmentations we have on that.
To this tweet, Midjourney founder David Holz replied

sent you some information to help with your internal investigation
Anyways, I am personally curious on how this will play out (and also bemused). Obviously, neither Stability or Midjourney has any particular high ground when it comes to data scraping as a practice, but (allegedly) accidentally DoSing your occasional business partners & legal co-defendants is certainly an (alleged) breach of decorum.
