Hi all, St. Louis native here. I've been out of the city for over a decade (after going to university out of state and moving to a HCOL area), and I'm considering purchasing a home in my hometown for my aging parents. However, I'd love to purchase somewhere that'll hold its value for at least 10 years. My questions to all of you 'on the ground':
I've been going in circles about where I want to purchase a home. I'm curious about the preferences of members of this group. I'm open to St. Louis City, South City, West County, and South County, etc. Potentially the North side as well.
Budget: $Up to $500,000 for ideally 3 bed/2 bath.
Criteria: A good school district if it's in the county. I know that property tax and school district quality are somewhat linked.
Transportation: Off the MetroLink, near a bus station hub, or somewhere fairly walkable. My parents like to walk :)
House type: 1 or 2 levels, but understanding that they're getting older, maybe not a 3-story townhouse walk-up.
For reference my parents are used to living in neighborhoods like Maplewood, Kirkwood, Tower Grove.
Happy to provide more info if needed.
Massive thanks, ya'll. This subreddit makes me ache for my hometown. :)
