I moved here a few weeks ago and will be here for 2 months. I currently live in the central west end near the hospital, and have been to a few different neighborhoods like the grove, soulard, downtown, and delmar loop. Nearly every place I go to for lunch or dinner seems super dead. I went to a coworking space downtown for the first time today and there were maybe 5 people in a space for 100 or more. My wife and I walked from CWE to the grove on saturday morning at 9 for coffee and breakfast and we passed zero people and shockingly few cars. I walk most morning in forest park for 2-3 miles and I cross paths with maybe 5 people over an hour. Is there a place that has like, activity and fun and people? There seems to be a lot of great architecture here, but I'm depressed at how empty every everything is all the time. The busiest place I've been is the brentwood target parking lot.
So where is everyone? Where is a busy coworking space or place to work during the day? Where is a busy neighborhood or restaurant that I can go for an evening date night? Is the closest place to experience this really chicago? I must be missing something.
