If anyone is in need of therapy or psychiatric services, but can't afford them or insurance doesn't cover them, I have a couple of resources that those in the area can use.
For therapy, this organization called Walter's Walk is incredible. They provide therapy on an income based scale. They will tell you to not let cost of therapy become a barrier to obtaining your treatment:
For psychiatric services, if you need meds or something more than therapy, there's a clinic called Salam's Clinic. They're open Saturdays and are walk in only. They have 2 locations, one in Ferguson and one downtown. The Ferguson one is open every week and the downtown one is every other week. This is a free clinic:
If I have any other valuable resources for mental health for St. Louis residents, I'll edit this post and add them. But this is a fantastic start to anyone who's currently struggling. Just remember, it gets better and there are options. I'm gathering information on more specialized treatment and diagnostic providers as well, so those who have undiagnosed issues that require more than a psychiatrist or therapist do have options as well.
If you have any questions please feel free to post here and I'll provide any information I have.
