Has anyone in this group lived in Memphis but now live in STL? Or maybe you lived in STL but now live in Memphis. Which city do you prefer and why?
My husband and I are from ācitiesā with 500k-ish people. We moved to Memphis in early 2022 to be closer to family in Missouri. We love how liberal Memphis is, love that being gay is no big deal, love the concerts, large airport, etc. Having said thatā¦ thereās a lot of stuff weāre struggling with.
Infrastructure suuuucks. A pothole is a pothole, but the potholes here are closer to sinkholes. I wish I was kidding. Appts for mechanics, doctors, or even renting a car take a long time. Weāre accustomed to getting in an out of a doctors appt say in an hour, maybe hour and a halfā¦ hereā¦ it generally takes about 3 hours. Generally just take a sick day because of how long it takes.
You wanna get a drink through a drive thru? Weāve gone to multiple different places and all drive thrus take 40 minutes. Again, I wish I was kidding. I could go on and on with the differences from what weāre accustomed to vs our experience in Memphis and if you want send me a message please do. Butā¦ Iām just curious if all cities are like this ā¦is it just Memphisā¦ is STL just another Memphis just bigger? Is STL way better?
Looking forward to hearing everyoneās thoughts!
