I get Rob's point, but Rob's a bit different than other cases. RVD marched to the beat of his own drum. He didn't care about office politics or locker room politics. He never bought into the Vince aura and did his own thing. He said he was willing to fight Vince McMahon if Vince felt that he could force RVD to go on that voluntary trip to Iraq.
I don't think Vince ever told anyone to use steroids, but when you go into the locker room and see the dudes built like monsters are also the ones getting the pushes and making the most money, it sends a message.
It also used to be that if you didn't work, you didn't get paid. If you stopped working due to injury, you didn't get paid for the shows you missed.
