How was Rey mysterio perceived online in the 2000s?
Post Body

Hi, I see alot of online conjecture about the guys being too small nowadays and not being believable. My thing is I always wonder why those same people just completely ignore Rey Mysterio. I was born in 2001 so IDK about how he was talked about during that period on forums and stuff. For people that were, what was online chatter around Rey mysterio like during the 2000s especially 2002-2005? Positive or negative? Did they try to invalidate him like people do now to smaller guys?

Comments

Rey never got those comments because his style made sense. Whenever he fought bigger guys, he used his speed. He used leg kicks. He sold incredibly well. He didn't try to be an intimidating badass at his size.

The only knock I ever saw Rey get was that his world title push was seen as only happening because Eddie Guerrero died. And it probably was, but that didn't mean people were unhappy to see Rey finally succeed. If anything, they wanted to see him get a real run. Instead he got beat up by giants for most of his reign.
